You are encourage to review the Frequently Asked Questions as well as the information throughout this website to understand how the closure will affect campus operations, what services will remain available, and the temporary changes that will be in place.

A successful closure will require planning, patience, and cooperations across the campus community. Following the guidance will help minimize disruptions and support a smooth transition while the electrical infrastructure upgrades are completed.
Seattle Central's main campus will be closed from August 17 through September 16 while Seattle City Light completes a major electrical infrastructure upgrade. This work requires the campus to be without power for an extended period.
The closure applies only to the Broadway Edison building and Broadway Performance Hall on Seattle Central's main campus.
All other buildings on campus, as well as the following locations, will remain open and continue normal operations:
- North Seattle College
- South Seattle College
- Health Education Center at PacTower
- Wood Technology Center
- Seattle Maritime Academy
Yes. Classes will continue as schedules through August 16. Beginning August 17, instruction will move to remote delivery through September 16, unless your instructor provides other guidance.
Classes at North Seattle College, South Seattle College, Health Education Center, Wood Technology Center, and Seattle Maritime Academy are not impacted by construction and will run as scheduled through the end of the quarter.
Your instructor will provide instructions through Canvas and/or Seattle Colleges email. Be sure to check both regularly.
Yes. Student Services such as Registration, Financial Aid, and Cashiering will temporarily relocate to the former Campus Bookstore, located directly across from the main campus, next to the Mitchell Activity Center (MAC).
Yes. These services will continue during the closure. Please allow additional time as staff work from temporary locations.
Cashiering will continue to accept credit card and check payments during the closure. Cash payments cannot be accepted between August 17 and September 16.
No. You should not come to campus expecting to be escorted into buildings.
Employee and student keycard access to main campus will be disabled beginning on Thursday, August 17, 2026. After that date, access to the Broadway Edison building will be available only with prior authorization coordinated through Campus Security. Keycard access will be restored on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
